๐Ÿ Takeout to Apple Photos ยท Free Metadata Fix

Migrate Google Takeout to Apple Photos

Moving from Google Photos to iCloud? If you import a Google Takeout archive directly into Apple Photos, your timeline will be a mess. TakeoutFix prepares your photos by restoring the missing dates and GPS data before you import them into Apple Photos.

The Problem with Importing Takeout to Apple Photos

Apple Photos (and iCloud) relies heavily on EXIF metadata embedded inside your image files to organize your library timeline and the "Places" map view.

However, when you export from Google Takeout, Google strips out much of this EXIF data and saves it in separate .json files.

If you just drag and drop your Takeout folder into Apple Photos, the app will ignore the JSON files. It will use the file creation date (the day you downloaded the Takeout) as the photo date. Your entire photo history will appear as if it happened today, and all your location data will be missing.
